Unravel the mysteries of Flow Cytometry: Join us for a 3-day intensive course on Flow Cytometry, combining theory and practical sessions, supported by the Max Planck Bioimaging Core Unit Network. This workshop is designed for flow cytometry facility staff, staff scientists, technicians, PhD students, and postdocs who want to deepen their knowledge of flow cytometry fundamentals and advanced applications. With a mix of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training, you’ll gain expertise directly from experienced instructors.

  • Date: 1st April to 3rd April 2025
  • Location: MPI for Heart & Lung Research, Bad Nauheim
  • Registration Deadline: 15th February 2025
  • Fee: No Fees for the course. Reimbursement options for travel costs available, please see registration information

Whats on the Agenda:

Day 1: Foundations of Flow Cytometry

  • Welcome & Introduction: Kick off the workshop with an overview of the course.
  • Theory Sessions:
    •  Learn the basics of fluorescence and fluorochromes.
    •  Explore the cytometer’s mechanisms, including spectral properties and quality control (QC).
    •  Understand data spread and compensation to ensure accurate analysis.
  • Hands-On Practicals:
    • Rotate through stations to gain hands-on experience with instruments like Aria and Fortessa, focusing on QC, compensation, and orientation.
    • Participate in a compensation demo session in the classroom.

Day 2: Experimental Mastery

  • Deep-Dive into Experimental Design: Learn how to plan flow cytometry experiments effectively.
  • Practical Insights:
    • Master sample preparation techniques.
    • Observe data analysis in action with live demos.
  • Practicals:
    • Focus on immunophenotyping with Aria.
    • Dive into DNA and EdU analysis with Fortessa.
    • Classroom sessions on titration and cell cycle analysis provide additional clarity.

Day 3: Advanced Applications

  • Applications of Flow Cytometry: Explore cutting-edge uses and the latest technologies.
  • Practical Stations:
    • Experience cell sorting with Aria and Bigfoot.
    • Expand your knowledge with sessions on apoptosis, immunophenotyping, and advanced data analysis.
