Dr. David Manahan
My research background is in evolutionary genomics and transcriptomics of natural populations, with a focus on the regulatory mechanisms that govern the flow of information from DNA to protein. This research trajectory has brought me to the Stainier laboratory, where I am joining the effort to disentangle the mechanisms underlying genetic compensation via transcriptional adaptation, particularly in endogenous contexts shaped by natural genetic variation. Through this work, I aim to show how pursuing fundamental questions in evolution and biology can lead to discoveries with direct applications in health and disease.
