Mateo completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology Engineering in 2023 at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador. He then moved to Germany to pursue an MSc in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences in Idstein. During his master’s studies, he worked as a research assistant (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) at the Institute for Analytical Research (IFAR), where he gained experience in sample preparation techniques for mass spectrometry and supported analytical workflows. He is currently conducting his master’s thesis at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim, investigating mitochondrial signaling mechanisms involved in cellular adaptation to stress.
