The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (Bad Nauheim, Germany) invites applications for a Group Leader (m/f/d) to head the Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry Service Group (Ref. Nr.: 2021_08).

The position

The successful applicant will lead the institute’s Mass Spectrometry/Proteomics service and research group that supports the work of the institute’s research groups. The MPI-HLR is part of the Cardiopulmonary Institute (CPI) sponsored by the German Excellence initiative and member of the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK). This, initiation and maintenance of close collaborations within the CPI and DZHK are expected. Recruitment of a postdoc by the group leader is feasible. The position will be tenured following an initial probation phase.

The service facility currently uses an Orbitrap Velos, QExactive and a QExactive Plus, all equipped with nano-UHPLC systems. The service group leader will be responsible for continuously updating the facilities and, whenever necessary, to establish new methodologies. The successful applicant will also be expected to train young scientists in proteomic techniques and provide leadership to the current staff of the service unit.

Your profile

Applicants should have experience in modern mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS/MS; QExactive), liquid chromatography (nano-UHPLC), SILAC and label-free based protein quantification techniques, as well as good knowledge in bioinformatic proteomic data analysis.
