The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim nearby Frankfurt (Germany) has one opening for a Postdoctoral Research Position (m/f/d) and PhD Position (m/f/d) (full-time, limited for 3 Years) in the field of cardiovascular and lung diseases (Ref. Nr. 2020_22).
The Pullamsetti Group / Lung Vascular Epigenetics Group at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (MPI-HLR) in Bad Nauheim and Justus Liebig University (JLU) in Giessen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow and a PhD student to study transcriptional and epigenetic landscape underlying Pulmonary Hypertension, a chronic lung and cardiovascular disease.
Our groups aim is to develop novel treatment strategies for pulmonary hypertension, studying the epigenetic mechanisms, transcription factor networks, metabolic changes and cellular crosstalk with immune cells. Our international team offers an open, supportive, dynamic and motivating academic environment with excellent training opportunities. We use a wide spectrum of methods: cloning, cell culture, co cultures, precision cut lung slices, cell-based assays (proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion etc.), RNAseq, single-cell RNAseq, ChIP-seq, FACS, cardiovascular physiological measurements, imaging techniques (Echocardiography, MRI) and histomorphometric techniques.

We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated applicants. For both positions, good knowledge of molecular and cellular biology approaches, and biological assays in general is essential. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also expected.
Essential requirements for Postdoctoral position applicants should have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant subject with the appropriate experience and track record. Preferably, we are looking for an applicant with a strong background on CRISPR, high-throughput technologies and molecular biology.
