The Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research (Bad Nauheim, Germany) invites applications for Research Group Leaders (m/f/d) Cardiopulmonary Institute (CPI), Bad Nauheim, Frankfurt, Giessen (Ref. Nr. 26_2020)
The Cardiopulmonary Institute (CPI) is a joint research institute of the Goethe University Frankfurt, the Justus Liebig University Giessen and the Max Planck Society, supported by the German Cluster of Excellence Initiative.
The CPI strives to make groundbreaking contributions to cardiopulmonary science with the long-term goal of reducing morbidity and mortality in cardiopulmonary diseases. Basic research in the CPI is curiosity-driven with a strong focus on gene regulation, nuclear function and cell signaling ranging from the structural and molecular level to functional genomics and systems approaches. Researchers are supported by state-of-the-art core facilities which offer services in next generation sequencing, proteomics, bioinformatics, cytometry, microscopy, and small animal imaging.
We seek outstanding, interactive candidates with a strong publication record and an innovative research program in any of the following fields:
- cellular plasticity and heterogeneity in tissue homeostasis and disease
- surveillance mechanisms and quality control processes essential to maintain cell function
- pathways of morphogenesis, tissue remodeling, repair and regeneration
- microenvironmental cues in the cardio-pulmonary system
- Macroenvironmental cues and inter-organ communication
Previous experience in cardio-pulmonary research is advantageous but not mandatory. Applicants with a different background who want to move into cardio-pulmonary research are encouraged to apply.
Positions are initially offered for a period of 6 years and can be extended following positive evaluation. Group leaders are offered an attractive package including an annual budget of 250.000 EUR, sufficient to fund a postdoc, a PhD student, a technician and consumables. Additional funds are available from the competitive internal CPI funding scheme and by participation in local and regional research networks.
The groups will be located at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim and will have full access to all facilities available at the Max Planck Institute and the CPI.
